Teacher of Art

Eastbourne College seeks to appoint an inspirational full-time Teacher of Art from September 2024.  The right person will have a marvellous opportunity to work in a stimulating environment where resources, buildings, colleagues and pupils all strengthen the process of teaching and learning.

Porter

Eastbourne College (Inc) is currently recruiting a porter to work at Eastbourne College. 

The successful applicant will be required to support the Head Porter in the delivery of the porterage services to support the operational needs of the College.

This role is for an average of 30 hours per week worked over a five-week rota. The hours are worked between 7.00am and 8.15pm normally 4 working days per week to include one full weekend every five weeks. This is a fixed term contract until 31 August 2025.

Artist in Residence

Eastbourne College is excited to support a visual arts graduate in the development of their creative practice by offering this one-year fixed term residency in a thriving independent school, which is a Platinum Artsmark centre.

They will work closely with the pupils and staff across art, photography and textiles. They will have access to our studios and equipment including printmaking facilities, sewing machines, Mac suite and photographic darkroom which are open throughout the week as well as most weekends. In addition, the successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to exhibit their work in the College gallery which can also be opened to the public.

In return, the residency will involve a maximum of 16 contracted hours per week in which the Artist in Residence will assist the art, photography and textiles staff in duties such as delivering workshops to pupils, curating and maintaining displays and exhibitions and providing technical support during lessons. The artist in residence is required to support pupils in their use of digital media, therefore a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications is essential.

The successful candidate will be passionate, approachable, and enthusiastic, will have an interest in arts education, a willingness to engage with and support pupils as well as the flexibility to work across the visual arts departments. We welcome applications from graduates of any visual arts discipline as long as they have the required digital media skills as per the job description.

Contract: One-year fixed-term contract to commence September 2024.

Salary: £7,065 per annum

Hours of Work: 16 hours per week with actual times by arrangement with the Line Manager, during term time only.
