Autumn Term: Week 3

You may have read across our social media platforms that we are in contention to win two prestigious national boarding titles. The first award is the Boarding Schools’ Association’s (BSA) Boarding House Extension or Refurbishment  award and the winner is due to be announced next week. In this category we will be up against two other schools. The second award is the Independent School of Year for International Student Experience hosted by Independent School Parent magazine. We are delighted to be the only standalone prep school left in this category and, with only five schools remaining, we are looking forward to the virtual awards ceremony in early October.

To be finalists for both national awards shows how far boarding has come at St Andrew’s Prep in a relatively short space of time. The boarders now have first class facilities to rival all other prep schools in the country and I am delighted that our boarding team’s effort to provide the best experience for our boarders has been recognised nationally.  I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Nick Chapman, Head of Facilities Management, and Wayne Archer, Estates Manager, for all their support throughout the renovation period.

The boarders had a very enjoyable trip to Buzz Active last Sunday for an afternoon of water sports. The activities included kayaking on the sea followed by dinghy sailing and windsurfing on Princes Park lake. The weather was perfect and the activities provided the boarders with a new perspective of our glorious coastline and countryside and the day further helped our boarders bond.

The boarders are looking forward to this Sunday’s trip to Go Ape where they will be completing a high ropes course with plenty of fun on the zip wires.

Congratulations to Connor Morrell, this week’s recipient of Tommo’s Trophy, for displaying impeccable manners and for being very organised and self-sufficient.
