St Andrew’s Pupils Win Young Engineers Challenge 2026
Our engineers of tomorrow did us proud this week, taking first place at the Young Engineers Challenge held at Eastbourne Town Hall.
Six teams from local primary and secondary schools spent the day working through a series of robotics and engineering tasks. The event was run by the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership as part of the Engineering Club programme, with Andy Hoang from Beyond Blocks leading the workshop.
The main challenge involved building robots and bridges, with pupils teaming up to solve engineering problems using LEGO as their toolkit.
The Worshipful Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Margaret Bannister, joined the pupils during the challenge and praised their focus, teamwork and enthusiasm for engineering.
We’re thrilled that the winning team came from St Andrew’s Prep. Their robot and bridge design impressed the judges with its ingenuity and reliability.
The challenge was supported by Whiteline Manufacturing, Edwards Vacuum and Cooden Tax Consulting, alongside the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership who continue to provide valuable real‑world learning opportunities for young people.
