Nursery Welcome

Nurturing curious, playful, happy children

The Secret Life of our Nursery Children

Light, airy and homely St Andrew’s Prep Nursery offers a warm and welcoming environment that nurtures happy and confident children.

Located in two purpose-built buildings, the Lodge Nursery and the Casson Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Hub, create a friendly and secure atmosphere within the school’s spacious grounds. We aim to give children the best possible educational start by providing a setting with no division between learning and play.

Being part of a larger school means that the Nursery enjoys many of the Pre-Prep and Prep facilities, including a state of the art sports hall and dance studio, gym, beautiful pavilion, resource centre, Woodland Classroom and extensive playing fields. As the school is located so close to the sea, the Nursery staff often take the children to the seafront to explore the beach and local area.

The Nursery is split into three classes – Starling, Nightingale and Kingfisher. Starling is for children aged 9 months to 2 years and they will be located on the ground floor of the Lodge Nursery.  Nightingale is for children aged 2 years up until pre-school age, and then Kingfisher is the pre-school class.

For many parents whose older children are already at school, the Nursery provides an ideal introduction for a younger sibling in friendly and familiar surroundings. Every child in the Nursery has a Key Person who is the main point of contact for parents. The Key Person builds a relationship with the child and their family and they work together to ensure best possible outcomes for the child in all areas of their education and well-being.

Nursery children progress to the Reception class here at St Andrew’s Prep or other primary schools in the September after their fourth birthday, to complete the Early Years Foundation Stage.
