Assistant DIrector of Music

Eastbourne College is looking for someone who is passionate about music and has the ability to communicate their enthusiasm in an inventive and inspirational way. They will be able to demonstrate originality in teaching, inspire creativity in pupils and staff, and inculcate the skills  necessary for excellence in examinations while maintaining excitement and interest in learning.

The successful candidate will be able to cope with administration competently yet speedily, leaving them free to concentrate on inspiring teachers and motivating young people. The Assistant Director of Music will have opportunity to take the time to reflect and plan, and when  appropriate they will be able genuinely to enjoy the exuberant life of the College. All members of the Common Room are expected to play an additional part in the boarding life of the College, e.g. by acting as tutors in one of the day or boarding houses, by offering their expertise in coaching team sports, or contributing to drama, debating etc.

The Assistant Director of Music will work hand in glove with the Director of Music to ensure that pupils have every opportunity explore and showcase their creative talents.

Senior Sister / Lead Nurse

Eastbourne College Incorporated (ECi or ‘the Charity’) comprises St Andrew’s Prep ages 9 months to 13 years and Eastbourne College, ages 13-18 years, co-ed day and boarding schools. Both schools share the primary aim to educate children in a safe environment to lead happy, fulfilled lives. The schools provide a broad, modern and connected education that takes place in the classroom, the house, the games field, the assembly hall and the wider community.

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Sister/Lead Nurse to be part of this engaged, talented and vibrant cohort, living and working in such a stunning part of the country.

As part of a wider team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to ensure that pupils at both schools are medically cared for as appropriate in a school setting, using nursing and management skills, working within the parameters set by safeguarding and child protection policies and regulations.

Post Graduate Sports Intern

Eastbourne College (Incorporated) seeks to appoint a recent graduate to provide a range of supporting functions to the provision of sport at Eastbourne College from September 2022. 

There is an opportunity to assist with the delivery of academic lessons for experiential purposes such as the delivery of the practical elements of both GCSE and A-Level PE or in other subject areas. 

We are looking for a candidate to assist in the delivery of our tennis programme, but a willingness to support any of hockey, rugby, netball, football or swimming would be an advantage.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have studied or is studying a sports related degree (or has a demonstrably high level of expertise in sport whilst reading a different degree), an interest in PE teaching and will ideally have some form of national governing body coaching awards relevant to the sports on offer at the College. However there is an opportunity to gain further qualifications at the College’s expense as appropriate to their level of experience and the requirements of the role such as (but not restricted to): NPLQ, Level 1 coaching, refereeing/umpiring qualifications, first aid qualification, minibus driver training. 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to boarding school life.

Receptionist (school holidays)

Eastbourne College is seeking a professional and experienced Receptionist to provide a welcoming first impression of the College either in person or on the telephone. The main duties will include meeting and greeting visitors, answering the telephone, and handling all mail and deliveries and providing administrative support as and when required.

Hours will be 37.5 hours per week, normally Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, during state-funded schools holidays. Flexibility in hours may be required on occasion to meet the demands of the post to support evening and weekend events.

RESIDENTIAL MATRON (from September 2022)

Eastbourne College is seeking a residential matron to assist with the health and well-being of boarding pupils (boys) as part of the pastoral team. The role also involves supervision of domestic staff and liaison with all Charity staff, pupils, parents and guardians.

Cleaning Supervisor

The post holder will be responsible for providing the effective supervision of the evening cleaning team across all areas of the school. In addition, the post holder will assume responsibility for the locking of the campus used by evening hirers and team members.

Experience of general cleaning procedures is essential as well as a willingness to lead by example, setting and maintaining high standards.

Normal hours will be 4.30pm to 9.30pm (25 hours per week). Start and finish times can be negotiated by arrangement within reason. Monday to Friday, permanent contract, all year round.

Nursery Assistant

St Andrew’s Prep Nursery provides a happy, safe and stimulating environment for children between the ages of 9 months to 4 years and is set right at the heart the school. The Nursery has access to many of the Pre-Prep and Prep facilities, including a state of the art sports hall, indoor swimming pool, Forest School site and extensive playing fields. As the school is located so close to the sea, the Nursery staff take the children to the seafront to explore the beach.

St Andrew’s Prep is looking to recruit a Nursery Assistant, qualified to Level 2 or higher in Early Years, to work with our experienced and highly skilled team providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all children, parents and staff.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has lots of experience within an Early Years setting and a good working knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS.

Hours: full time with options for either term time only, or all year round.

Gap Year Boarding Assistant

An opportunity has risen for an additional Gap Year Boarding Assistant at St Andrew’s Prep. The placement would be for the 2022 academic year (i.e. September 2022- July 2023). 

We are looking to recruit a hard working and conscientious school leaver or graduate to support all areas of school and boarding life. This will include supporting academic lessons as well as coaching sport and being involved in other aspects of the co-curricular life of the school.

St Andrew’s Prep is a day and boarding school. You will be required to work with the boarders in the evenings and early mornings, and this will also include some weekends where you will accompany our boarders on trips.

This is a rewarding opportunity for gap year student or graduate who is seriously considering a career in teaching to enhance their CV.

Minibus Driver

Eastbourne College is seeking a reliable Minibus Driver to provide support with transporting pupils involved in sport fixtures, co-curricular activities and other trips.

The driver is required for Saturdays, normally 10.30am to 4.30pm during term time only. Flexibility is required dependent on timings of away matches, trips etc.

A full clean driving licence including D1 category to drive mini-buses is essential.
