BIOLOGY LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Eastbourne College is seeking an experienced laboratory technician to coordinate the use of resources and facilities and provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the Biology curriculum.

The Biology Department offers inspirational teaching within and beyond the College’s cutting edge Science Centre, ensuring a wide range of practical work with extensive resources in the four spacious, state-of-the-art Biology laboratories.

The successful candidate will have a strong science background and, ideally, previous experience of working within a school environment.

Normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week to be worked Monday to Friday during term time plus four weeks at the beginning and/or end of term (37 working weeks in total).

Teaching Assistant

St Andrew’s Prep is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with and support members of the Junior Department in ensuring that pupils receive the highest possible standards of care and education, becoming safe, secure and successful.

The Junior Department offers a dynamic and caring learning environment where we nurture confident, happy children with an appetite for learning.

In Year 3 and Year 4, the Form Teacher continues to be the key person in each child’s life, teaching the main academic subjects and being responsible for their overall pastoral care. At the same time, the pupils’ confidence is enhanced as they move around the school for some other lessons, enjoying a busy day and following a very broad curriculum. The wide range of curriculum subjects offered in Pre-Prep is expanded upon with specialist teaching in subjects including Art, Design Technology, French, ICT, Music, PE, Swimming and Games.

You must be suitably qualified and/or experienced to assist across the curriculum and understand the particular needs and concerns of this age group, their parents and those who teach at this level

Working hours will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 4.15pm (36 hrs/wk), term time only. September 2019 start.

SPORTS COACH

Fixed-term from September 2019 to July 2020

St Andrew’s Prep is looking recruit a part time sports coach primarily to teach Pre-Prep PE (Gymnastics, Multi-Skills and Athletic activities). The role involves being actively involved in the extra-curricular programme through leading after-school clubs and taking on responsibility for aspects of assessment and tracking for Pre-prep PE within the school in liaison with Director of Sport.

The successful applicant should be suitably qualified and/or experienced to coach sport to prep school aged children.

Working hours:

Monday or Friday      after school clubs 3.30pm-5.15pm

Tuesday                      Gymnastics 3.30pm-4.30pm

Wednesday                PE 9.15am-11.45am, Sports fixtures 

Thursday                    Nursery Tennis 12.45pm-2.15pm,  after school clubs 3.30pm-6.45pm.

The role may suit a job share.

EVENTS & BOX OFFICE MANAGER (JOB SHARE)

 Eastbourne College is seeking a professional and experienced manager to administer and coordinate events, functions and sports bookings at the College. The main responsibilities will include management of the Box Office for all events in the Birley Centre and other theatre spaces at the College, plus assisting in the administration and coordination of commercial activities, including Easter and Summer Lets programmes and the College’s own branded initiatives, such as the ‘Spark’ programme of holiday day and residential camps.

This is initially a fixed-term role to September 2020 which requires the post-holder to be experienced in co-ordinating events and functions, with a keen eye for detail and an understanding of the importance of presentation.

The successful candidate will work Wednesday afternoons and all day Thursday and Friday, all year round.  Normal working hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm with 30 minutes for lunch. These hours will form a job share. Flexibility in hours will be required on occasion to meet the demands of the post to support evening and weekend events.

Bank NURSERY ASSISTANTS

St Andrew’s Prep is looking recruit friendly and highly motivated Bank Nursery Assistants, who will support our Room Leaders in providing high quality care and education on an ad-hoc basis during busy periods.  

Light, airy and homely, St Andrew’s Prep Nursery is friendly and secure in its own well-equipped building within the school’s spacious grounds. Rated as outstanding, we aim to give children the best possible educational start by providing an environment with no division between learning and play.

Being part of a larger school means that the Nursery enjoys many of the Pre-Prep and Prep facilities including a state of the art sports hall, indoor swimming pool, Forest School site and extensive playing fields. As the school is located so close to the sea, the Nursery staff take the children to the seafront to explore the beach.

Applicants need to be confident, reliable, adaptable, and have experience in working with children aged 9 months to 4 years.
