Cultivation Street Week
As part of Cultivation Street Week, our resident gardener, Hannah, highlighted the beauty of our Boat Garden and the strength of our outdoor learning provision—something we value deeply at St Andrew’s.
The Boat Garden is just one of many spaces across our site where children are encouraged to learn in a natural environment. Our unique setting, nestled between Eastbourne beach and the South Downs National Park, offers endless opportunities for exploration and enriches our already immersive curriculum.
From our tiniest babies to our Year 8 pupils, we continually adapt our timetable to allow for extended outdoor learning—whether it’s daily buggy walks or lessons held in our Woodland Classroom. We are committed to evolving and enhancing our learning environments, creating classrooms without walls and opening the door to creativity and discovery within our local surroundings.
We recently met with Oliver Sterno, founder of Plastic Free Eastbourne and lead campaigner for Refill. Together, we hope to support the Meads Wellbeing Working Groups in their initiatives to enhance the environmental sustainability of the Meads community.
