Science Week

Our pupils celebrated Science Week with a lively thermodynamics experiment that put some familiar snacks to the test. Cornflakes, a digestive biscuit, cheese balls and a Ritz cracker were each set alight beneath a test tube of water, with the change in temperature being carefully recorded. Our young scientists determined that the Ritz cracker had the biggest rise in temperature, proving itself to be the most energy-packed snack. A brilliant way to develop scientific thinking and highlighting the importance of food choices.

A chemistry experiment set-up for Science Week features a test tube clamped above a small burner, surrounded by bags of food items on a white table in a classroom or laboratory setting.
