St Andrew’s Prep Rugby Festival
The odd downpour didn’t dampen spirits at the St Andrew’s Prep mini rugby festival yesterday. Approximately 300 children represented club teams at U9, U10 and U11 level and were cheered on heartily by their parents and friends.
The festival is competitive, but the importance of team spirit, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship was the order of the day. As a result, the atmosphere was terrific and the teams left tired, happy and very, very muddy.
Those on the sidelines were well catered for with delicious bacon butties, cakes, tea and coffee. A contribution of the takings will be donated to the local charity,You Raise me Up, which supports families after the loss of a young adult.
Our thanks to the teams from Brighton, Crowborough, Eastbourne, Lewes, Seaford, St Andrew’s Prep and Uckfield who ventured out on a breezy, showery day; to the Friends of St Andrew’s for braving the elements to serve the refreshments; to the amazing St Andrew’s Prep catering and ground staff and, of course, to the rugby festival organisers – Maxime Bird and Kerry Murray in particular.
