St Andrew’s Prep was dressed for success on WBD 2020

Our pupils ditched their uniform for fancy dress outfits today as the school celebrated World Book Day! Literary characters were brought to life with costumes included an array of princesses, Hogwartians, boys in dresses and demon dentists was interspersed this year with a mermaid, a dogman, a wardrobe, and a smurf. A wonderful effort all round!

Children’s author, Alan Durant, joined us for the morning. Alan shared tales of his childhood, his inspirations for reading and how he became an author. He had pupils in stitches and, later, he delivered creative writing workshops and signed books which the pupils loved.

To round off the morning, our brilliant catering team produced a fantastic lunch on a literary theme with book characters peeking out from carrots and puddings.

Our thanks to the wonderful duo, Miss Schiphorst (Head of English) and Mrs Garrett (Librarian) who have done so much to promote reading and organise the day.
