Year 2 parents visit forest school

Last Thursday, the parents of Year 2 joined their children for a morning at school.

Activities started in Forest School, where the children and their parents had to work co-operatively in groups to create a giant dragon sculpture. The groups were allowed to add other sculptured characters and then made up stories using their fantastic creations. After a break for hot chocolate and biscuits around the fire, each group told their story to the hushed gathering before returning to the Year 2 classroom for a curriculum related questionnaire which allowed the children to share their good work with their mothers and fathers. The parents’ visit ended with lunch, where the children showed their parents how to go to through the servery. The parents commented on the fabulous choice of food and how the catering staff encouraged the children to make the right choices to get a balanced meal.

It was a wonderful morning and gave our parents an insight into their children’s busy, creative and inspiring school days.
