Spring Term: Week 10

Strangely, these last two weeks have felt like the start and end of term, all rolled into one … welcoming the boarders back at the end of the remote learning provision for a short period before we find ourselves getting them organised to depart for the Easter holidays!

Under the watchful eye of Sister Vicks, there has been little charging around the House of boarders trying to find their belongings and we have observed teamwork in packing as roommate(s) sit on each other’s cases as they squeeze everything in (why is it that cases which seemed perfectly large enough when they arrived seem too small as they head off?).

Though we are already in March, extraordinarily, we celebrated the first House birthday of the academic year last night!  Happy birthday Connor! With two terms without birthday celebrations to enjoy, I was delighted that Ted and his team were able to produce one of their ever popular House birthday cakes for everyone to enjoy.

While there was much to celebrate last night during supper, the evening was tinged with a little sadness as we said goodbye to two of our Gappies. Max Casebourne and Antoinette Chastang have supported us for two terms and have formed close bonds with the boarders and staff, working tirelessly to support all of us in the House. Thank you both!

And so, as we call stumps on a fragmented term, I must save the final thank you to the wonderful Colstocks team. Throughout lockdown they continued to support the boarders in the House and since returning they have ensured that all of the Colstocks residents have enjoyed a positive experience with  focus very much on their happiness and social interaction (even if it was just for two weeks!).

We are now all looking forward to the Summer term when we hope to return to some form of normality and welcome a few new and returning faces to Colstocks.

Congratulations to Harrison Nye, this week’s recipient of Tommo’s Trophy for working through his emotions to enjoy a very positive two weeks in the House.
