Funds raised for Kawasaki Support Group
Kawasaki disease is an acute childhood illness that strikes suddenly. It affects children of all ages, though those aged five and under are most likely to contract the syndrome. Boys are twice as likely as girls to contract the immune disease where the medium-sized blood vessels throughout the body become inflamed. Its rarest but most serious effect is on the heart, where it can cause fatal coronary artery aneurysms in untreated children.
Ms Stalker commented, “This money will have such a positive impact on the growing number of parents facing agonizing waits and prognoses for their children. The Kawasaki Support Group provides a telephone help line to offer parents information and support and we are helping the medical profession to gather information to research the illness.. Thank you so much for this generous donation.”
