Autumn Term: Week 8

It was wonderful to welcome the boarders back after their  half term holiday. All of them returned armed with stories from the two weeks and it was pleasing to hear that they all had a wonderful time.

I personally caught up with three of our boarders who spent the half term break at Eastbourne College. On a wet Friday afternoon, we ventured into town to enjoy lunch at Bill’s restaurant. It was pleasing to hear that they had settled quickly and were enjoying the College’s half term provision.

The resilience and adaptability of our boarders continues to amaze me. Given the current global situation, it would be completely understandable if our boarders were found to be a little more anxious and emotional than normal. But I can honestly say that this has not been the case. All of the boarders have shown a level of resilience and emotional intelligence far beyond their years. Credit must also go to the whole St Andrew’s community for ensuring their well-being remains of highest priority.

With lockdown now in full swing, our weekends are going to look a little different. Unsurprisingly our Sunday trips programme has been put on hold and duty staff will be running various in-school activities for the boarders.

Congratulations to Harrison Nye, this week’s recipient of Tommo’s Trophy, for always being polite and helpful and displaying maturity beyond his years.
