Summer Term: Week 8

“Please don’t mention the exams again!” This was the parting comment made to me by many of the boarders as they left for their half term break. After the build-up to a busy week of exams, I saw their point. However, I could not have been more proud of the children, as they worked so hard for their exams.

As I woke up on Monday morning I had the week planned in my head, along with a nice ‘to do’ list sitting on my desk. Come 8.30am, however, my plans were thrown into complete disarray: as I strolled back to my office from doing my morning walk around I was met by Mr Shouksmith who asked me if I had heard the news.  Thinking that Tottenham may have finally announced a new manager I was getting quite excited; however I was told that we were being inspected throughout the week and at that point my ‘to do’ list lengthened somewhat!

Naturally I (and the rest of the staff) have experienced a range of emotions this week, however come Thursday morning I can honestly say that there was an air of excitement as I met the boarding inspector and took her through our boarding provision, as well as touring her around Colstocks. Moreover our wonderful boarders were so enthusiastic and positive about their boarding experience throughout the whole inspection period and the inspectors commented on their politeness and pride in Colstocks.

This half term is going to be a busy one for our boarders. Over the next three weeks they will be involved in leaving meals and parties, a variety of weekend trips, BBQs and beach breakfasts and suppers. There is certainly plenty to look forward to. This Saturday the children will be going to the cinema and on Sunday they will be going to Branching Out Adventures for some outdoor activities.

Congratulations to Marcus Ho, this week’s recipient of Tommo’s Trophy, for his continuous upbeat spirit and positivity.
