Colts A footballers at St George’s Park

The Colts A footballers qualified through the ISFA Sussex Regional Tournament and were awarded a place at the FA National Football Centre, St George’s Park where they competed for the chance to be crowned national champions against the best prep schools in the country. The team travelled to the venue the day before the tournament and were treated to an all-access tour of the state-of-the-art facilities. The tour was inspirational, and the boys were overwhelmed to tread the same corridors as some of their heroes.

The tournament offered some stiff opposition and though this was expected, it took the first game for the team to adjust to the pace of the matches. The boys found their feet and were desperately unlucky to draw two games in a row, conceding goals very late on in those matches. The team really started to flex their muscles in the next game, winning 5-1, which gave them a chance to qualify for the knock-out stages. Despite the quality skills and their superb efforts, the boys didn’t progress but came away from the tournament as the highest goal scorers in their group. A great achievement.

It was an amazing experience for the boys who were terrific ambassadors for St Andrew’s Prep, displaying team spirit and courage throughout the day. Well done!
