Nurturing curious, playful, happy children
Our Nursery offers a warm and welcoming environment. As well as nurturing happy, confident children, our Nursery readies them for the Pre-Prep and Prep education at St Andrew’s and beyond.
Light, airy and homely in the Lodge Building and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Hub, the Nursery is friendly and secure within the school’s spacious grounds. Rated as outstanding, we aim to give children the best possible educational start by providing an environment with no division between learning and play.
Being part of a larger school means that the Nursery enjoys many of the Pre-Prep and Prep facilities including a state of the art sports hall and dance studio, indoor swimming pool, gym, beautiful pavilion, resource centre and extensive playing fields. As the school is located so close to the sea, the Nursery staff often take the children to the seafront to explore the beach.
'Children's progress made against expected levels of development relative to their starting points is well above average'.
Children can join us from the age of 9 months. For many parents whose older children are already at school, the Nursery provides an ideal introduction for a younger sibling in friendly and familiar surroundings.
The Nursery is split into the baby room for children aged 9 months to 24 months and then there are four classes: Robin and Racing Robin for two to three year olds and Chaffinch and Kingfisher for three to four year olds.
Nursery children progress to the Reception classes in the September after their fourth birthday to complete the Early Years Foundation Stage. Each class has its own room leader and assistant who develop strong relationships with the children and get to know them very well.
