Senior athletes qualify for nationals

Forty-four athletes from Years 6 to 8 travelled to the Crawley K2 Centre to take part in the area athletics finals along with hundreds of other athletes. It was a glorious day and the standard was very high across the numerous events on the track and on the field. Many improved their personal performances and a number broke school records. The most notable performances were as follows:

Coming first in their events and qualifying for the National championships:

Amelia – both Long Jump and Triple Jump – breaking the school record in both events (the Long Jump record has stood since 2002)

Nelly – Long Jump

Hannah Duke 300m – achieved first position and broke the school record

Achieving second place in their events and going through to Nationals:

Ethan – Triple Jump

Emily – High Jump breaking the school record

Oliver – Javelin

Coming third in their events:

Sophie – Triple Jump (Sophie also came fifth in the 1500m, breaking the school record)

Ethan – 800m

Will – 1500m

Harry – triple jump

St Andrew’s Prep pupils also achieved fourth and fifth places in several events. It was an excellent day and the children should be very proud of their performances.
