St Andrew’s Annual Sponsored Walk
The annual St Andrew’s Prep sponsored walk took place last Saturday morning with children, parents and dogs taking a variety of routes across the Downs to suit all age groups including an 11 miler for the really hardy!
The lovely summer weather threatened to break a couple of times but held off for everyone to enjoy a BBQ back at school afterwards. Our thanks to the Mayor, Cllr Mike Thompson who started the event with a few words, and to the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Sovereign Harbour who kindly provided the marshalling along the routes. Thank you also to our peripatetic saxophone and clarinet teacher, Evelyn Harrison and her friend for the wonderful tunes played in the gym over lunchtime including a super rendition of ‘Norwegian Wood’.
This year, the sponsorship money raised will be divided between the children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, and one of the Rotary’s chosen charities, Send a Cow, which provides livestock, seeds, training and on-going support to African farmers.
