St Andrew’s Prep sends books to Africa

The St Andrew’s Prep librarian team and the school’s Eco Warriors have been helping Mrs Garrett and Mrs Jordan to sort and pack up boxes of weeded (obsolete or rarely used) library books and text books to send to the charity Books2Africa. Books2Africa is a UK registered charity that is improving the quality of education in Africa through the provision of books, computers and educational resources that enable individuals and communities to acquire knowledge and achieve their full potential in a globalized world.

Together, the school filled 52 boxes for the charity and on Saturday 20 November, the books were loaded into a school minibus and driven to the charity’s depot in Canterbury. Each of the boxes has been given a special identification number so that the books can be tracked to their location in Africa and the school will be updated as to where the books are being used.

Well done to the Librarians and Eco Warriors who helped with the project and to Mrs Garrett, Mrs Jordan and Mr Howell for their amazing help in making this all happen.
