That’s one giant leap for mankind

St Andrew’s Prep has enjoyed a variety of different activities as part of their Science week. There were talks from Russell Arnott on marine life and the amazing adaptations of Cetaceans as well as the Octopus. He also talks to seniors on the challenges of living in such an environment with water pressures as much as 1000 times normal atmospheric pressure.

Later in the week we heard about the challenge that Ardingly College undertook last October to drive their solar powered car across Australia from Darwin to Adelaide. This was a distance of no less than 3,000 km and teams had to complete the course in just five days. Children also got a chance to sit in the actual car that completed the journey.

For the Juniors there was also a trip to the Science Centre at Herstmonceux which allowed the children to learn more about space travel and the challenges that this presents.

All in all a busy but very enjoyable week.
