Summer Term: Week 4

Last weekend’s three-day bank holiday exeat gave the boarders an opportunity to engage in some much needed downtime; most returned home to their guardians or family. There were however, a group of seven boarders who remained in school for the exeat. Under the watchful eye of Miss Lozano, our Head of EAL, the children were treated to long costal walks, fish and chips on the beach, golf, tennis and yoga lessons and, if that wasn’t enough, ice cream from Fusciardi’s! If you haven’t yet been onto the School’s Instagram and/or Facebook page then I would urge you to do so, so that you can see the wonderful photos (some of which were taken by the boarders). These exeat weekends take an awful lot of planning, not to mention commitment from staff and I would like to thank Miss Lozano and the other staff involved for all of their effort, time and enthusiasm in making the weekend so enjoyable for the children.

With COVID rates in Eastbourne continuing to remain low (eight per 100,000 people) I am delighted to inform you that from this weekend we will be resuming our Sunday trips programme for the boarders. Initially we have booked local trips up until half term and these include a day of fun in Bushy Wood (including archery, team building activities, pioneering and shelter building), paddle boarding at the Cuckmere and indoor climbing. After half term we will look to extend these further afield provided that step three of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown progresses as planned.

Congratulations to Oscar Duffour, this week’s recipient of Tommo’s Trophy, for adapting quickly to his new surroundings and generally being a delight in the House.
