Burns Night 2018

Tartan was in abundance as parents, friends and staff from across the Charity came together to celebrate Burns night on Saturday evening.  The gym was transformed into a Scottish idyll to celebrate Rabbie’s birthday bash and the much anticipated haggis, neeps and tatties were delicious.

Guests were entertained with superb speeches and poems performed with toasts to the lads and lasses by Grant McFarlane and Luisa Veitch and Tuhin Goswami gave a fascinating insight into the life of Rabbie himself. Afterwards, Alex Brown delivered the Scottish Proclamation which was ‘flash mobbed’ by 10 parents who successfully roused everyone in the room to perform a synchronised dance to The Proclaimer’s 500 Miles. Musical accompaniment was provided by the band ‘Quicksilver’ who led a series of traditional Ceilidh dances which were enjoyed by all. The night ended with guests singing along heartily to Auld Lang Syne.

We are incredibly grateful to the Friends of St Andrew’s for their tireless preparation for the evening, to all the parents who generously donated their time and gifts for the raffle which raised over £300 for Mary’s Meals and to Ted and the Holroyd Howe team for delicious catering.

Do join us for 2019.  It’s not to be missed.
