Remembrance Service

The St Andrew's Prep community came together on Friday 11 November to mark Armistice Day. Parents and friends were invited to join pupils and staff for a Remembrance Assembly and the whole school joined the nation for two minutes' silence at 11am.

Mark Painting

After the excitement of Thursday night’s fireworks, the Pre-Prep have been using their arts and crafts skills by ‘mark painting’ their interpretation of the magnificent, colourful display.

Success for Ptolemy

Many congratulations to Ptolemy who followed up his fabulous win in the qualifying round at the Royal Berkshire Show in Newbury by finishing seventh in the very competitive class of 20 at the National Final of RBST Shepherd of the Year competition staged at Countryside Live in Yorkshire on 23rd October. Ptolemy was responsible for preparing his Kerry Hill sheep called Precious and Gwen for the competition and demonstrated his handling skills and deep knowledge of sheep and how to care for them.

Ptolemy also claimed top spot when he showed Fresh Meadow Precious in the Shearling Ewe class; especially pleasing as Precious is now retiring from the show ring and is turning her attention to motherhood.

Harvest Festivities

As part of our Harvest festivities this year, children from across the school brought in a huge amount of produce to donate to the Eastbourne Food Bank, a local charity which seeks to make a difference by giving hope and love to people in need.

The Nursery wowed their parents by singing Harvest songs beautifully and Harvest services were held in the school chapel for the older children with Rev Giles Carpenter presiding.   The retiring collections have been forwarded to Linking Lives, a charity run by St. Johns Parish Church in Meads.

More Pepperoni?

Each week in Colstocks Boarding House, the Housemaster, Mr Tomsett and his lovely family, invite a small group of boarders into their home for a ‘pizza party’. It is a very relaxed and informal affair and much looked forward to by the appreciative boarders. More pepperoni anyone?

The Seagulls rule the roost

The boarders recently took a trip to the AMEX stadium to support the Brighton Seagulls at home against Wolves. On a chilly evening, the children loved the atmosphere and were thrilled that the Seagulls came away with a 1-0 win.

Boarders dine in style

こんにちは – Kon’nichiwa.

The boarders were treated to a delicious spread of Japanese food on Thursday. With a vast menu and plenty of food to share, the pupils had their very own taste of the Far East. Which country’s national delicacies should be on the next themed meal menu?

The Spooky Quiz

The Friends of St Andrew’s Prep Fright Night Quiz Night on Friday was spookily successful with over £900 raised to be split between the JPK Sussex Project and the refurbishment of the school Pavilion.  With many teams dressed in Frightful outfits, the quiz was hosted by Count Gordon von Ferguson and his coven of witches and skeletons. Very many thanks to the Friends for organising such a ghoulishly fruitful event.

Through to the finals

Many congratulations to the U13A six-a-side boys team who qualified for the finals of the IAPS National Prep Sixes. The boys were outstanding throughout the tournament, finishing in the top four out of 25 competing schools. The finals take place at Repton School on Sunday 20 November.
